Bill Shirey is a retired NASCAR Winston Cup Series driver who accomplished three finishes in the "top ten" (1970 Richmond 500, 1971 Asheville 300, and 1971 Kingsport 300) and has driven for 9588 laps - the equivalent of 7,398.2 miles (11,906.2 km).[1] He started 24th on average and also finished an average of 24th place.[1] Shirey attempted to qualify for the 1971 Daytona 500 and the 1972 Miller High Life 500 but failed.[1] His total earnings from his NASCAR career were $30,395 - putting him well outside the multimillionaire range of today's NASCAR stars.[1]
